Ricardo Balancy will contest the federal seat of Holt for the Liberal Party at the next federal election.
Mr Balancy, a 46-year-old senior manager, has lived in Holt for the past 25 years with his wife Lisemay and their two children.
Mr Balancy said he was standing to help get Australia back on track and provide better opportunities for families.
“My family and I share the community’s frustration about the failures of the Gillard Government. While we’re trying to raise children, manage a mortgage, and juggle rising cost of living pressures the Government is caught up in scandals, blunders and policy failures,” Mr Balancy said.
“Our community wants some certainty and confidence. I’ve seen too many of my neighbours, relatives and friends have their work hours cut back to part time or casual.
Only a Coalition Government will restore confidence for individuals, families and businesses.”
Mr Balancy has been involved in his local community for many years.
From coaching junior soccer, chairing sports clubs, and being involved in Rotary and the CFA, Mr Balancy has a passion for the local community. In 2007 Mr Balancy received a Victorian Multicultural Award for Excellence for uniting different cultures through soccer.
“I believe volunteering is an important aspect of community life and I get a lot of satisfaction from doing what I can to help others and improve my community,” Mr Balancy said.
“For far too long Labor has taken this seat for granted. The people of Holt deserve a strong voice in Canberra.”
